Neolt Factory History – The Beginning (1941)
Neolt was founded in Bergamo, Italy in 1941 by Ettore Pontiggia.
The company began with the production of sliding calculation rulers, precision tools used by engineers, architects, and designers during a time when technical accuracy was entirely manual.
As industries evolved, so did Neolt.
The company expanded into the production of drawing boards and drafting machines, quickly becoming a world leader in professional drafting equipment. Neolt products became synonymous with precision, reliability, and Italian engineering excellence.
This early focus on technical accuracy and quality craftsmanship laid the foundation for what would later become one of the most respected names in professional cutting and finishing equipment.
1950s – New Production Location
During the 1950s, the growing global demand for Neolt drawing boards required expansion.
To support this rapid growth, the company invested in the development of a new production facility, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and operational scale.
At the same time, significant resources were allocated to research and development, reinforcing Neolt’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
This strategic investment in infrastructure and R&D laid the groundwork for future technological advancements and international expansion.
1960s – Expansion of the Product Range
During the 1960s, Neolt significantly broadened its product portfolio.
New product introductions included:
• Stencil printers for architects
• Heliographic machines
• Office furniture
The quality, design, and functionality of NEOLT products reflected the technological and cultural transformation taking place during that decade.
As a result, Neolt strengthened its international presence, exporting to more than 70 countries worldwide - firmly establishing itself as a global brand.
1970s – First Rotary Blade Cutter
In the 1970s, NEOLT developed its first rotary blade cutter, marking a major step into advanced cutting technology.
During the same decade, the company expanded its product range to include:
• Laminators
• New office furniture
• Modernized drawing boards
This period signaled NEOLT’s evolution from drafting equipment leader to a growing force in professional cutting and finishing solutions.
1980s – Vertical Cutters & Production Expansion
During the 1980s, NEOLT continued evolving its product line with both technical and aesthetic advancements.
New colors were introduced across the product range, reflecting modern design trends and strengthening brand identity. At the same time, the company began production of its first electric cutters, marking another important step in the development of advanced cutting technologies.
As demand continued to grow, the need for additional manufacturing capacity led NEOLT to construct a new production facility spanning more than 50,000 square meters.
This expansion significantly increased production capability and reinforced NEOLT’s position as a leading industrial manufacturer.
1990s – Folding Machines & Vertical Cutting Expansion
During the 1990s, NEOLT expanded its finishing portfolio with the introduction of its first folding machine for technical drawings, designed to meet the needs of engineering, architectural, and technical documentation environments.
In the same decade, the company further strengthened its finishing line by introducing vertical panel cutters, enhancing precision and efficiency in large-format material processing.
These developments reinforced NEOLT’s position as a comprehensive provider of professional finishing solutions for technical and graphic industries.
2000s – Expansion into Industrial Printing Systems
In the first decade of the twenty-first century, responding to evolving market demands, NEOLT expanded into industrial printing systems with the introduction of a new dedicated production line.
During this period, the company launched:
• NEOLTJET printer
• Asterjet printer
• Neoweld welding machine
• The first XY Matic cutting system
This decade marked a strategic diversification, combining printing, welding, and automated cutting technologies — further strengthening NEOLT’s position in the wide-format and industrial graphics market.
2015 – Reorganization and Strategic Evolution
In 2015, NEOLT underwent a major transformation, separating from its printing division and officially becoming Neolt Factory Srl, with a renewed focus on cutting and finishing technologies.
Production was relocated to a new facility and new offices were established, strengthening operational efficiency and specialization.
Earlier in the decade, the company introduced the Shield Pneumatic Laminator and the Sword Vertical Cutter, and concluded the decade with the launch of the XY Matic Trim Plus, reinforcing its leadership in automated finishing solutions.
